Automatic Translation: Not Ready for Primetime

Basically, hopes are still high but the technology “isn’t there yet.”
For those of us in language sciences, the issue is quite important but the conclusion is probably that the attempts are misleading. There is more to communication than this type of translation.

A friend sent me this.
I saw this in a middle eastern grocery store yesterday and thought it was funny enough to take a picture. The rest of the box was in some foreign language, so I’m guessing it means something like “Super Clean” in fact…but I still thought it was funny.
